Chasing Sunset
Foot on the gas as I follow the path
Every so often I face another driver’s wrath.
Their lights blind me, but I can’t look away
Otherwise i’m not sure on the road I will stay
I drive pretty much exclusively at night home now, to the west. The sun sets and I cruise towards it with infinite time and endless space. It’s peaceful, but the bright and awful lights of incoming vehicles cause for discomfort. Despite the darkness, my sunglasses stay on - as to not be punished by their existence alone. Those are behind me, too. I turn my mirrors just enough to send the light away. It is not as if I am able to see through the mirrors at these times, anyways.
Some of the roads wind. I like them.
