From the office of Amiga
I'm writing this one from the newly confgiured old ASUS Zenbook Pro I recovered and revived. Very glad I did, too - I didn't know at first that it would be as good as it is. Of course, there were issues.
First issue - No drive. That was easily fixed, I had a spare (old) M2 from my previous desktop. Fit right in.
Second issue - Battery was totally dead. Could use it while plugged in, however unplugging even a smidge would shut it down completely. I ordered another one from eBay and ran a report on it - 30$ for a 3 hour battery which is pretty good given this machine's specs which I haven't revealed yet.
That's mainly it for issues. The machine has a 4k touchscreen display, an Nvidia 960M, and a quaint i7-6700HQ under the hood. 16GB of DDR4, as well.
I imaged it with Windows 10, used Stardock to clean it up, and WinAeroTweaker to kick the windows feature bucket to the side. Also, ran Massgrave's tool for ESU activation. Runs pretty good so far!
The Zenbook is the ASUS version of a MacBook, and it does its best on a visual level. I've got the nice flat but responsive keys, silver chassis, and shiny screen with a bit fat bezel. There is a webcam that goes up to 720p, though I am forcing it into 144p. I've not tested the speakers.
All that said, glad I spent the time. Here's a pic of the desktop. I'm using Waterfox as my browser and Pale Moon as a backup for compatibility.
